SOBORNA STREET

This is one of the central streets of the city. It ran's from west to east as one of the sisters-parallels of the New Plan (today we have 20 streets from North st. to South st.). Soborna st. connects Shevchenko street with Hrushevskoho Avenue and cross Lesia Ukrainka, Ogienko and Gagarin Streets. So, the Soborna stretched only for 4 quarters. It was named the Soborna in memory of the cathedral which earlier decorated the beginning of the street. And as if in pursuit of the name, soon, in the spring of 1998, the Orthodox people undertook to restore the cathedral (Sobor) itself. Soborna street is the main pedestrian street of the city.
